Each year more than 74,000 cycling enthusiasts descend upon the historic Laguna Seca Recreation Area in scenic Monterey, California to attend the world’s largest, most successful bicycle festival – the Life Time Sea Otter Classic. Featuring bike races in nearly every cycling discipline, kids activities, fun rides and a consumer Expo with 1,000 exhibitors, the Sea Otter Classic offers something for everyone. In 2024, the Sea Otter Classic will be held April 18-21.
Producing the Life Time Sea Otter Classic - North America’s largest cycling festival - requires hundreds of volunteers and thousands of volunteer hours. The Sea Otter Classic Foundation works with the local non-profit community to schedule volunteers to support all areas of the event. In turn, volunteer hours count toward financial grants non-profit organizations earn based on the hours their volunteers contribute. In 2023, the Sea Otter Classic Foundation awarded $70,000 in financial grants to 45 organizations in the local non-profit community.
Volunteer jobs range from serving as course marshals, to kids ride zone monitors, staffing information booths and ticket sales locations. Our volunteer groups include a wide range of civic organizations, clubs, human service agencies, churches, military groups, and more. In addition to earning money for their organization, volunteers receive a 4-day event pass, a t-shirt and lunch.
